Secret Menu Item of the Day: Here’s one that didn’t make the exhaustive list of restaurant menu secrets: The greasy eclipse known as “Mc10:35”.

Fast-food frontiersman Peter explains:

1. Go to McD’s right when they are transitioning from breakfast to lunch.

2. Order one of the remaining Egg McMuffins from the breakfast menu and also order a McDouble since the lunch menu is now open.

3. Take the egg and Canadian bacon from the Egg McMuffin and put it on the McDouble.

The guy at the register said people call it a Mc10:35 because that’s pretty much the only time you can pull this off.

Sounds like a horrible mistake. I must try it.

My Boss sent me a text last night at 1030 saying I needed to be at the studio at 5am. Fuckk! was my first reaction since I’ve been working 16 days straight.. The long way.. But it turned out to be one of my favorite days in a while. Mark is shooting for his new book and it’s dope to be apart of it. He has been shooting almost all the images with a Toyo 4 x 5. Common ft. Kanye West - “The Food”

So much better live. Waking up this morning the album version of this came on and diggin through itunes I realized I could not find the live version, even though it was included on the classic (yeah, I said it) album Be. This and the Mos Def freestyle were the two best performance on Chappelle show. As much as I miss the sketch comedy, I miss having someone like Dave who was so tapped into the times rising talent of hip-hop on TV and giving shots. Old Kanye looking hungry too, we need another classic hip-hop album from Mr West. For now, check out his new blog that launched yesterday.

Above, an invite for a Gilt Groupe event next tuesday, but the invite reminded me of the great article in NYmag about the timing and growth of Gilt and how the right timing has transformed the brand into what it is today. Working at Surface magazine back in the day I remember getting an ‘invite card’ in a gift bag at some posh event I was underdressed for and thinking it was a cool idea. The article talks in detail about Gilt dealing with their growth, and for anyone who orders from the site I think it is a worthwhile read. Interesting to see the brand expanding out from being just the e-tailer to being a viable topic for editorial to a brand with enough recognition and clout to start being the media sponsor for gallery openings. Recently a tumblr page, Not Gilty, was also started pointing out the most ridiculous of the Gilt items for sale. Might be worth RSVP’ing to this party just to take picture of the people in attendance.

Wow, so the other day I went on this rant about XXL’s Freshman lists and the internet making the picks months in advance and blah blah blah, but wow. OJ da Juiceman was a pick?!? I feel bad that this is even considered music. That was easily one of the worst freestyles I have ever heard. I remember the internerds giving Wale a hard time for his freestyle at the BET cypher and it being lazy but da Juiceman has taken it to another level. He seriously rhymed “basketball player” with “basketball player” to start his awful short freestyle, I just….I’m done. For the kids though, we need Fashawn to do better than OJ, there is a reason he was booed during CMJ last year. I need a weekend update version of ‘Really?!?’ about this guy.

Suburban Correspondent : Drew Bear

This is my call to action to get our recently added contributor, Andrew, to start pouring in some knowledge to the Keap Hope community.

I’ve known Drew for a long time now and his unique perspective on the world and often detail obssesive (sometimes overlooked as well) mentality lends itself perfectly to the voice we hope to build at Keap Hope. Drew has the ability to be insightful, honest and funny, all with minimal effort and maximum fun. I won’t expect him to contribute much to the blog, but I wanted to put this up as a subtle push to honor the title I’ve given him as the “suburban correspondent.”

Drew lives out in Stamford CT and although his New York trips are not as frequent as they were a few years back its rare to discuss a major media topic of the city with him and he doesn’t have an established opinion. Often his outside view point gives me a second perspective on media, music and culture that I find extremely valuable when planning out any major project.
