Man I love seeing stuff like this. At work, stealing a few minutes, and diggin’ around a few of my favorite hip-hop sites and what do I see? The homie Che Grand posing with cardboard shark. Photo taken by Dan Dealy at the super fun Graffiti Beach party. I sent this over to Dealy and he immediately got hype for the next event. That’s right. A bigger, better, party coming in October.

Those Rosenthal Brothers, at it again! What do you do when you’ve developed a name for yourself in hip-hop and want to branch out beyond sketch comedy videos (awesome, sketch comedy videos if I must say)? You start a podcast! They beat me to it! Although I never had the popular viral content on my resume that the brothers do, I did have a similar idea for a show to be recorded with the one and only Kozza of SOB’s. We recorded a first ep over at PNC Radio which just never got put out. Multiple calls, emails and tweets to A-King and the PNC team have gone unanswered, I felt like a low level artist at a label trying to find a release date. I should have gone independent…

And that is exactly what these guys have done. Pairing up ItsTheReal with Jensen Karp is Hypeman, recorded in the kitchen of the Rosenthal’s on the UES and already 3 episodes deep. For ep 3 the boys bring in one half of my favorite dead podcast “Juan Epstein,” Mr Peter Rosenberg. Amazing there is zero talk with the Hot 97 morning show host about his now defunct internet show but what they do discuss is great fun for any nerdy, white, hip-hop fan.

Introducing…Ms. Atti Worku, the Founder of Seeds of Africa. I had the pleasure of meeting Atti at the Jade listening party a few months back after trying to get a shot of her standing at the bar over a packed crowd - this got her attention. Just this past Thursday I attended the Seeds “mini” get-together at the Roofdeck of the Hotel Empire, and it was a blast. The get-together was set-up as a precursor to 3rd Annual Holiday Fundraiser to take place in the next few months (stay tuned). For what was described as a “mini” get-together, was a packed house with a line forming outside the hotel lobby at street level. The weather was great, everyone was enjoying their drinks and Atti was greeting friends and coordinating the event from her BlackBerry - all with a smile on her face.

A little bit about Seeds…In short Seeds is about developing communities in Africa by inspiring well-being and growth with the foundation of education to the youth and young adults of the community. With this foundation, greater things will grow just as if you were to plant a SEED. Stumbled upon multiple bachelorette parties this past weekend going on at one bar. Shakespeare aka Nick took the role as “off-hour Chip & Dale’s dancer” while pouring tequila all over himself, supplying entertainment in the form of body shots. Took this shot of one bride to be who didn’t want her face in the picture (obviously). Yikes!

In all seriousness this is some great work and will be an excellent addition to the other numerous pieces of art that I’ve purchased in the last four years and have still not hung. Time to get on that.

So my friend brought this guy George over to my apartment last weekend. Turns out he grew up in the town next to where I grew up in Boston. That was about it until I learn this morning he’s behind this band Javelin on David Byrne’s label Luaka Bop. I spend most of my time in a cave so I’m not up on much new music but this is some pretty great stuff and after a little interweb research it seems like they’re up to some very interesting things. Axe Music presents: TI, King among kings

On Monday night the King of the South let the world know he was ready to take back his thrown with a special Axe Music performance at Capitale in the Lower East Side. The recently incarcerated rapper pulled out all the stops for his first stage performance in New York since his release, rocking alongside what he called the other “Kings” of the game. During a close to two hour set filled with firey emotion and non-stop energy, TI brought out the “King of Harlem,” Cam’ron, along with the Cam’s latest protege Vado, followed by Maino, Swizz Beatz, Kerri Hilson, Grand Hustle’s own B.o.B. and the Queen of hip-hop soul, Mary J. Blige. It was a stage show so big we had to share it. Check out the video above for a taste of TI and friends celebrating the return of the much missed charisma of TIP.

I originally wrote and shot this for Time Out’s music blog, The Volume, but they have been slow to post, so until they do, here it is for ya.

Fan video: What these b!tches want!

You gotta love this. A brother to a KeapHope fan (thanks Laura!) purchased one our classic DMX t-shirts and it inspired this little performance at what only looks like a mess of Fraternity party that we are sorry we couldn’t attend.
